Decent is all about the quality espresso you get from professional Italian espresso machines like the La Marzocco™, Strada EP, but in a machine made for your home.
The engineering expertise of Seattle's high-tech community was applied to expand the vision of what an espresso machine can be. Decent achieved solid temperature and pressure with technology rather than a big metal boiler. A touch tablet controls everything and the Internet is part of this machine's DNA.
Inspiration came from brands like Synesso™ and Slayer®, two other Seattle-based companies that are innovating in surprising ways in the professional barista market and aiming to do the same for the highly discerning home espresso consumer.
Making a decent espresso is really difficult.
Espresso is very demanding: the preparation temperature and pressure must be almost perfect. Reduce it a few degrees and your drink will be acceptable, but not great. This was resolved with the brand's own water mixing technology, which combines slightly too hot water with a small jet of cold water to get it just right. Not only does it achieve the desired pressure, but it is one of the few espresso machines that tells you the actual pressure on the coffee disc. Most espresso machines report the pressure at the pump, which is not useful.
This need for precision is why most coffee shops prepare moderate espresso drinks. Even good coffee shops are often inconsistent. Professional machines with good performance are expensive and require great skill. With most domestic machines, you have no chance of making a decent espresso, Decent's proposal is to change that.
Below are some advanced features of Decent, in addition to many other basic functions that this super machine offers:
-Pressure profile
-Temperature profile
-Flow profile
-Real pressure readings
-High energy. Dry steam
-Detection of complete pre-infusion saturation of the grain to begin extraction, followed by slow infusion
-Automatic stop after the programmed water volume
-Flow x pressure priority mode
-Exceeds the traditional 9 bar of water pressure, making it possible to explore extraction with significantly finer coffee beans
-Allows flexibility in water temperature control (20°C to 105°C)
-You can save the performance of your best espresso recipe as a reference and graph it in subsequent recipes
-Emulation of classic machines, with 30 profiles included to navigate the history of espressos easily
-Tablet software is open source, as is the API. Allowing you to benefit from updates that are implemented by the community
-Portable
-Can be used without the tablet, just by pressing the button
-After-sales application for Android, Apple or via the web that allows you to control your espresso machine
-A variety of Bluetooth-enabled scales are supported
This is the future of coffee, in search of the perfect cup.
