The president of the National Coffee Commission of the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA), Fabrício Andrade, participated in the signing of the protocol between the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) and the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA) to promote Brazilian coffee on the global market.
The agreement, lasting two years, aims to expand coffee exports, attracting buyers, holding competitions and participating in international fairs.
For Fabrício Andrade, the agreement is very important for three factors. “We will have recognition of the importance of coffee growing in the world, the mobilization of the entire production sector of the chain and the possibility of expanding financial resources in communication and marketing actions to promote our coffee”, he said.
According to Andrade, ApexBrasil reiterated that renowned coffee shops around the world must recognize Brazilian coffee as one of the best and represent it appropriately, highlighting its strength and quality.
The signing ceremony was attended by Henrique Cambraia, president of BSCA; Marcio Ferreira, president of the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafe); in addition to representatives from the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (ABIC), National Industrial Learning Service (Senai), Procafé Foundation, Coopfam, Brazilian Soluble Coffee Industry Association (Abics) and National Coffee Council (CNC).
A platform created through an initiative by the CNA Institute that guarantees the quality and origin of specialty coffees produced in the country is also being implemented. This is a project to digitize the CNA's Geographical Indications, providing the organization of the movement of Brazilian indications and has been encouraging its strengthening for communication and marketing actions for these coffees.
Currently, 14 Brazilian geographical indications for coffee are registered, 9 of which are Indications of Origin (IP) and 5 are Denominations of Origin (DO). The initiative by the CNA Institute, Sebrae and ABDI will provide more guarantees for the purchasing markets through digital technologies.
The new tool will guarantee the quality of national products and the environment for adding value to rural producers, providing greater reliability and credibility to the Brazilian coffee market.
It is worth mentioning that Brazil, in addition to being the largest global producer and exporter of coffee, has the highest quality and most sustainable coffees in the world.
