Arabica grain production from the largest global producer and exporter was estimated at between 46 million and 47 million bags
Brazil's coffee harvest next year was estimated at between 69 million and 71 million 60 kg bags, growth of up to 6.5% compared to 2023, estimated this Thursday (30) the consultancy Safras & Market.
Arabica grain production from the largest global producer and exporter was estimated at between 46 million and 47 million bags, compared to 43.5 million in 2023/24, according to Safras.
The harvest of canephora (robusta/conilon) coffee was forecast between 23 million and 24 million bags, compared to 23.15 million bags in 2023/24.
With this, there is potential for a total coffee harvest similar to the 2020 record, largely due to the improvement in conilon production in the comparison between the two periods, said Crop consultant, Gil Barabach.
“The good flowering and rain throughout the spring generate a lot of optimism around the 2023/24 Brazilian harvest,” he stated, in a note.
“But this potential (2024) to be confirmed depends on the climate remaining favorable. And there is still a lot to be defined. The first point of doubt is the effect of high temperatures and low humidity in November on crop development”, he added.
The consultant commented that meteorological models point to good volumes of accumulated rain in the month of December in the coffee areas of Brazil. And humidity should increase between the months of January and February, with the arrival of summer.
“This is good news for granation of the 2024 harvest. It is a very favorable climate scenario, which would support the good development of crops and enhance a full harvest again in 2024”, he indicates.
